Many of us have friends and family members in the military currently stationed overseas. No matter what our personal political views, the nation’s support for these brave soldiers should be constant and unwavering. Sending personal emails, letters, cards, and military care packages are a few of the most common and effective ways for us to show our support from the home-front. Here are a couple things to consider before sending a military care package.
First, gather some information about where your soldier is stationed. Different items or types of items are harder to get in some locations. Some bases will have different levels of comfort than others. While microwaveable popcorn may be something anyone will enjoy, if there’s no microwave available for your soldier to use,
Military Care Package Tips
Sending military care packages overseas to our friends and loved ones doesn't have to be difficult. Often, I'm asked for military care package ideas. So I thought that I'd put just a few of the very best tips together for sending support to our soldiers overseas.
First, remember to include a letter in the care package. It doesn't have to be long or say anything Earth-shattering - even just a note will do. While overseas, its nice to read about even the simple routines that our brave military men and women miss so much. If its difficult to write a letter all at once, try just keeping a notebook where you write a few lines a few times a day to your soldier. Date the pages and let your soldier read what your days are like and how you're doing. After a few days, you'll be surprised at the length of the letter and pleased that you've shown your friend or loved one how often throughout your days you've thought of him or her.
Hygeine Care Package Tips
Hygiene products are a wonderful addition to any soldier care pack. However, we discourage mixing food with certain perfumed or scented hygiene items. Scented soaps and deodorants specifically, should not be shipped in the same package as food items. The combination of extreme heat and being packed closely for weeks in the same box will very possibly create deodorant flavored Chips Ahoy and Zest flavored Slim Jims. Please keep that in mind when creating your custom care packages. Items such as tylenol and toothbrushes ofcourse don't have that type of problem, but for items such as soap and deodorant we do recommend sending a strictly hygiene care package and then following up by ordering a food and snack package seperately.
